Love Plastic!

July 15, 2009

Recently, the plastics lobby launched a 3-year ad campaign aimed at “making today’s generation see all the great things plastic can do for them.”

I’ve never understood the point of an ad campaign for something like that. It’s similar to the I’m an IBM’er campaign. Who is sitting at home, watching a Saturday baseball game, and deciding between buying a mainframe from IBM or Dell…

If you’re reading this and the campaign makes sense to you, please, leave it in the comments. Let’s hear about it.

I’m an IBM’er campaign…

really wanna buy a mainframe…

My first job out of college was for a PVC roofing manufacturer who was being targeted by a number of non-profits for having an unsafe product.

They are probably a part of this initiative. They put a lot of time, effort and money to try and educate people about the sustainability of PVC. The non-profit claims are based on data that is now close to 40 years old and outdated with new technology.

The campaign is probably generic to appeal to a large collective of companies (who are probably all competitors) to fight plastic’s bad name in the Go Green enviornment.
